No wonder you like it so much. I believe that is called the Colt "I" frame ( not sure of designation ). But whatever the frame is called, it is the same .41 caliber frame they used for the Official Police, Trooper ( original Trooper, not the Mark IV ), and finally, the Python. Being made with the same action as the Python, it was very popular during the 60's and early 70's to take a used OP and put a bull barrell, a Bomar or Aristocrat sight rib, tune it, and have a PPC gun with a sensuous Python like hesitation trigger for half a grand less than if you started with the Python.
Like an idiot, I sold off a later model 4" blued .38 spl OP and have regretted it ever since. Oh well, I'll make do with fondling my 8" barrelled 38 Spl. Python Target.
