Ok....it's not the biggest bowie I've made but at least it's not a hunter. :) This is one I've just been wanting to make for awhile now. It's a cowboy sized bowie or field/camp bowie maybe. Even a small fighter?? It's got elements of all of them, I guess.

I made it thinking I might keep it for myself..........but I could probably be talked out of it. ;) By my wife if no one else. :)

Specs:
Hand forged from 1075 steel, clay quenched and lightly etched
10 5/8" overall with a 6 1/2" blade, .220" at the ricasso and a full distal taper ending in a really sharp point
Guard and collar of my own 15n20 and 1080 damascus
German silver spacers
Really beautiful and really rare Madagascar Rosewood handle

This wood is really beautiful. My new favorite wood, I think. The dust and chips from working it look like red velvet cake crumbs. Really nice rich burgundy color that darkens with age to a reddish brown.

I'll add sheath pics in a day or two.

All comments welcome.

Some nice activity in there.

Very nice job John. Clean and simple yet complex and elegant as well. All the elements seem to work together smoothly.

John, that is very nice. I DO like the Damascus guard and spacers, nice touch! Fit and finish excellent as always.
Your work just gets better and better!!

John, I am a big fan of your work, the last 2 hunters you have posted as well as this bowie are the clear reason why. Really nice design and beautifully executed. fantastic work and how about that hamon activity with 1075!

Cool knife John. The checkered assembly screw is a nice touch.

Very nice. Done in the typical Doyle fashion, clean and finely executed. Its great to see one thats a bit bigger from you. I do hope you have more larger knives coming soon. Thanks for sharing.

well, done John and I'm sure it will fine a nice new home quite quickly. enough done to take it from a pure bowie/fighter to an art knife

John, that's just a classy knife. I like it's simple lines, the hamon and handle design are perfect. Nicely done!

I have always liked your knives John.
But each new one I see I like more and more.
Always clean and flawless.

Drawing in my chair: I'll point out how much those three flutes in the handle work so well for me. Simple and fulfilling.

John Doyle is pinging the radar screen BIG time! :D

Thanks for the comments all. Some high quality comments from some high quality folks that I truly respect. It makes me hold my own feet to the fire so to speak so I live up to the expectations here. I really appreciate that.

I am liking this one more and more as I handle it. :)
