CPDs for 4/28 -- 4 biggies -- Pix and steals.

I'm fascinated at the big difference in weight between the two sirupatis. Same design, both 25 inches overall, but one is 33 ounces and one is 41 ounces -- a full half-pound more. Yet you look at the two, and they sure (or should that be Sher?) look like they're the same. Is the heavier one thicker, as I would imagine?

I'm sure they're both high quality khuks, but I'm curious as to which is closer to HI "spec" -- if such a thing exists.

That's why I hate to quote specs. Essentially we don't have any except for length and basic design. We have found that the more freedom we give the kamis the better the end results.

Maybe the 30" is too big.

I'll look around and see what I can find that's smaller and stick that up for today's CPDs.

Bill,
Is it my imagination or are the bolsters getting longer and longer?

That 25" length is found on some of the "oldies" too. Those guys needed some real strength to wheel those things around.

I can't believe nobody took the 30" Sirupati by Sher. I'm broke, else it would be on its way to Northern California right now:(.

Those are some lovely blades, I think I may have to pick up a 30" sirupati and 25" light kobra this summer .

Hoghead isn't home or I think that may be on his list of wants:rolleyes:. Of course I spent all the $$ yesterday:D

Just have to see or is there a time limit on specials. I haven't asked yet.;)

Here I am, I love big blades, but no money or at least the 30" would be gone.:( And the banks wont give me no more credit, not even when I say"pretty please with cherries on top" :D :p

The 25" Sirupati just arrived. It's beautiful. And such a great balance. I was worried about it being too big, but it's perfect.
This is my first wooden handled HI khukuri... and there will be many more, from the look of it!

Funny enough, I had it delivered to work. I work in the maritime industry, so a lot of the guys have been around the world. I was not surprised when one guy recognized the blade. I was even more surprised when he told everyone this was a "bolo," and the "fighting knives" along side it were meant for holding in reverse grip in the same hand as the "bolo" ... I tactfully told him that one was a steel and the other a utility knife, and that this was a khukuri from Nepal. He got quiet then.
At least I work in a place where they don't freak out when you get a 25" monster blade delivered (and open the box!)
:D

#3 named the Kages Katne Jaws. The big (30")AK is called Tiny. Go figure. I guess thats the way we do it around here. Nothing makes sense.

Hey Bill, when I'm done with this little chart I'm making I'll give you the min, max, and average weights of the different models. I think that would be a more accurate representation of them than a dead on weight.
