CPK Pet Thread

That happened to my mother and her miniature Schnauzer many years ago. The shepherd rag dolled the dog but he survived. Unfortunately, I wasn't around to do something about it at the time.

Sorry to hear this, Lorien. Very sad. I have no pity for dogs left to roam free and attack other dogs or humans.

I'm sorry your mom is having to go through this Lorien. I love dogs can't abide a dog that will behave that way or an owner that allows a dog like that to roam free.

A few years ago my sister had just got her Cocker Spaniel pup and while on a walk near her house a German Shepard came after her puppy. My sister was knocked down, but thought quick enough to push her puppy under a mini van that was parked there and kept the Shepard from getting at the pup, but she got several bites and scrapes and bruises protecting her pup. Sadly that wasn't the first time that Shepard had attacked another dog.

I picked Gus up this morning.

Long story short he's doing well.

Foreign matter wasn't found. A lymph node was removed and is being biopsied and a deep bacterial culture will be done as well. Hopefully the foreign debris is gone altogether or contained in the lymph node. I'll know more next week.

Gus is doing really well. Unfortunately, his energy levels have not been diminished in any fashion. We'll have to keep him calm and sedated for at least 2 weeks, which isn't great because we already had to sedate him the prior 2 weeks before the surgery to prevent another flare up.

Poor guy was pretty upset with me for putting an inflatable donut around his neck. He hates it. Not sure if he'd prefer a plastic cone of shame, but we're going to try that tonight.

I'm really concerned about him overdoing it and ripping his sutures. Hoping that doesn't happen.🤞
Thanks for the update on Gus. I’ve been wondering about him. I really hope that the two of you are feeling better soon. It’s rough when your buddies are not feeling well.

So far so good!

He has been really good about leaving his stitches and bandages alone. He's very smart and he understands that we're encouraging him to baby his leg. He's been very cooperative with everything.

We basically only put the cone on him at night when we sleep. 4 days down and 10 to go.

had a visit with ma, and she's ok. The murdering bastard dog was euthanized today, apparently, and I heard that this guy has been a problem for years in the neighbourhood.
My preferred way to look at it now, is that this dog has no chance of mauling someone's kid. As shitty as it was that it killed another dog, it's guaranteed now that it will never be worse.

I’m so sorry that you went through this with your mom and her dog. Horrible !!!

Some dogs just have to go, due to their background, no doubt about it, and it sucks, cause it doesn’t have to be, but…. It must.

I sorry you and your mom and dog went through this 🥲🙏🏻
