Hello Blade Forums,
In May of 2013 I start following a WIP on BF for a CNC machined fighter and got in contact with Nathan of what is now known as Carothers Performance Knives. I was intrigued to say the least of the new approach he was taking to make knives by CNC. It just made sense to me and I was hooked and have followed the madness ever since.
I purchased two (2) Latrobe A2 Machined Fighters (Shiv’s) at the time from what I remember was literally the second batch of Shivs produced. One was a “field grade” version and the other was a “presentation grade” version. Nathan threw in and additional third Shiv that he regarded as a “blem” for hard testing (I could not tell why the knife was a blem). The testing never occurred.
A couple years later in 2015, I sent the un-used “blem” version back to Nathan, as I wanted a true SLICER as compared to my other two examples. For a fee, he re-finished the knife to his exacting specifications and applied a “meat eater grind” to the edge and installed brand new handle scales in quilted black G10. The knife has remained un-used in a climate controlled safe since then.
I don’t know how many Shiv’s Nathan produced have a “meat eater grind” that he charges extra for, but in my opinion, they all should!!! It has a wide polished bevel that is insanely wicked sharp like a laser beam.
*Includes a never used Black Spec Ops Combat Master Sheath (jump certified) which fits very well*
I know these Shivs on the exchange are hard to come by, especially A2 Shivs, especially “meat eater” versions. As time goes by, they will become even more rare. Don’t miss out!!!
