CPM 10V Steel

Times have sure brought changes to the cutlery industry. When this thread was out I couldn't have imagined Spyderco making a production 10V knife with Titanium and running the 10v at around rc 63. Wow! Pretty amazing even for Spyderco. :)

Some more commentary:

"10V is a very specialized custom knife blade steel. It's never going to compete
with the ATS34/154 CM group of work horse steels because of the lack of
corrosion resistance and finish difficulties. A very few custom makers will use it
for performance reasons only and it does not appear to be economically feasible
for use on a factory blade. This is a steel for an avid hunter or guide who wants
a blade for field dressing, skinning and boning, that cuts and holds an edge
above everything else."

I would be interested in what Spyderco says about this steel and why they chose it for the Farid K2.

Finially, I am now a proud owner of a Spyderco K2 Farid. A really big knife.
If any one has comments on the steel and this knife, I'd be interested in hearing about it.

K390 and 10V are my new favorite blade steels for smaller blades. They hold an edge so well and are actually very easy to sharpen! They are a pain to reprofile the edge, but once you get the edge set, all it take is a few light passes and it is razor sharp in no time at all! HT and grind are very important with it, just like any steel though. Two thumbs up for those two steels. I really wish it would get more popular, it is well worth the cost. IMHO
