Here's a cleaver blank made from CPM 154. It's .175 thick. Here's the story behind this cleaver.

When I first began making knives, I wanted a set of Kitchen knives. I saw this cleaver/slicer from another maker and decided to give it a whirl. Up to that point, I had only worked with high carbon steel. Back then, I preferred grinding hard (after heat treat). So when I went to make my Kitchen set, I thought nothing of rough grinding the CPM 154 blanks and sending them off to Texas Knife to be HT'd.

Big mistake and I'm sure some of you are still laughing at that! When I got the blanks back, I went through a few belts grinding that CPM 154 hard!!

All in all, I had 4 of these cleavers HT'd by Texas Knife and Cryo'd. I have two left and I still use a 2x42 so I'll not be getting to these until I get my 2x72 running.

I'm letting this one go. It has a 7" cutting edge and the height is 2 3/4". The only thing I've done to them is put Dykem on the edge. I haven't even marked the centerline yet. Other than that, it's been hanging in my shop for 3 years. It's begging to be put to use. All you need to do is grind and put handles on! 2 - 1/4" holes drilled in the tang for pins.
