CPM-3V Trailmaster?

3V is an extremely tough steel. It is very difficult and expensive to finish nicely. The DLC "makeup" looks very nice and is probably very durable, but I'm questioning whether the coating is hiding a sloppy blade finish that would be unacceptable on a non coated blade. It Would be interesting to see any of the DLC coated blades right before they walked into the beauty parlour... ;)

Sam O completed our first Camp Defender 2.75 in 3V a couple of weeks ago. His comments about 3V: It grinds pretty tough and doesn't polish. DOES NOT polish. I've done some pretty glossy work and I'm pretty persistent at getting a nice shine on most metals, but 3V holds onto each successive level of abrasive marks like mad.

I've actually been considering getting one of the CS 3V knives, but I don't know that it's worth the cost difference on a blade that size.

All great and stuff but CS just switched from SK5 to 01 on the TM so don't see them switching to 3V so soon.
