Where are you buying your CPM 3V steel? Aldo seems to be out of stock. Looking for 1" and 1 1/4" width, 1/8" and 5/32" thickness stock.

Alpha knife supply or maybe call Aldo, since he moved into the different location I don't think hes had time to update his site.

I talked to Aldo a couple weeks ago and he said he would have more in stock sometime in January.

steel i swaped to cause of having a hard time sourcing 3v at times so far is only being rolled in .227 thickness right now. i am told tho that more thicknesses are coming

Thanks for the info. Good to hear Butch. I can get it from Jantz but the sizes are limited. Darrin, Niagra's prices are higher then I care to pay. Aldo has the best prices and I will check with Alpha supply.

Niagra seems to price their steel in a manner specifically designed to discourage you from buying from them directly. The only problem is that they are the only source for some newer stuff like CPM4V.

They don't carry Crucible any more. they used to be the Crucible Service Center before the bankruptcy reorganization. They sell Carpenter stuff and some products from Germany now.
check with sb metals in Arlington texas.

Interesting that they would be selling their competitor's products. How long is "not too long ago" because they don't have any Crucible stuff listed on their website today?
I just got some of the .227" stuff from SB not too long ago for an excellent price.

Interesting. I wonder if it is old stock? Might be some good deals to be had there!

We sold some to CPM 3-V Mid West last month so they should still have some. I'll contact the rest of our distributors like Jantz, Aldo, SB, Hudson Metals and Admiral to let them know there is more interest in CPM 3-V. They are also authorized to sell CPM 4-V but they haven't ordered any as of yet.

Please do! CPM-3V is my favorite alloy, and I have clients chomping at the bit to have me make knives for them in stock ranging from .045" to .270" and above.

I have been considering this product . How is it to grind ? Any different than say D2 or S30V ? Heat treat looks to be pretty straight forward although it has a high tempering range 900 degree's now that is hot. Multiple quenching options .

Sounds good! I'm really happy with the performance and need a big sheet.

I believe Aldo will be ordering some more material from us soon. I'll mention this thread to him in case it squeaks by him.
