I was commissioned to make some knives from CPM 4V. I made this one and heat treated myself for testing purposes. This is an awesome steel. I processed almost 15 pounds of cardboard one day with this knife and had very little edge degradation. A few passes on my strop and it was topping hairs again. This is a chef utility pattern but I used it for everything. Food prep was a breeze, fuzz sticks, curlies and rooster tails never came so easy. I cross batonned several times with no chipping or dulling. While I am not a fan of batonning this knife excelled. I have another new Super Steel coming and I need to make room for another tester.

Specs:
.110" CPM 4V
9" OAL

1.6" Wide
Heat Treated with Sub-Zero Quench to a Tested 63-64 Rc

That's a fantastic looking knife Chris! Great work. Out of curiosity, what's the new steel you got coming?

I am getting some CPM 20CV. It is the American version of BU of M390. It is CPM's copy of Latrobe's Duratech 20CV. I am really excited about this one. I have been looking for something else to compete with S90V and this might be it for me.

That sounds exciting Chris and look forward to seeing how the 20CV works out. I really like the design on this one.

Nice grab, ice-pic!
