I’ve been carrying my Benchmade Shootout at work lately, and the Cruwear blade steel has been performing way above and beyond.

I’ve been using it for some tasks that a pocket knife, probably really should not be used for, but the blade has held up amazingly well. No chips, no rolls, and edge retention is pretty fantastic.

This may be, my favorite steel ever. Time will tell.

I think Cruwear is a good steel for the average user. For people who may treat their knives harder than the average enthusiast Cruwear should hold up better for them. I don't know what the real world corrosion performance is, I get by just fine with M4 steel for instance. These days I wonder if Magnacut would be a better steel than Cruwear for the less sophisticated user.

It's my favorite steel. It behaves well, takes a great edge, performs REALLY well with a thin edge. Paring it with the Adamas line was what sold me on those knives. I have some Magnacut and it is incredible. I love it as well, but Cruwear is just something magic:)

A top pick for me, one of my favorites.
Sharpens easy and holds it well.

There is a noticeable difference in corrosion if the Cruwear was tempered with a high or low treatment. But, even with a high temper, it has better field corrosion resistance than M4 or K390 from my experience.

I love the 8 percent chromium tool steels!
The blade on my Shootout is DLC coated, so corrosion is not an issue with this particular knife.
