Just got mine delivered at work

So happy that I got one before they went out of stock. Its my first Para and my first comp. lock. Its awesome :D Seems a lot more useful than the Millie (especially in an urban/office environment.)

I just wanted to brag and spread the joy, get one while you can find them.

I keep coming back to my Para as well, for edc. It's an awesome knife.

How much will the steel discolor? I don't really care about that, I'm going to use it, but I am concerned that it might start pitting or show actual rust?

I got four of them before they went bye bye. I live in a dry climate (10% to 20% in the summer) and have never had an issue (I have a few other D2 knives that I've had for a good amount of time) but I also keep a silicone cloth on my portable BOB for occasional wipe downs too.

Was your box coded EI? I am beginning to think the EI coded production run was a super nice batch of CPM D2 Paras. I have three EI's and one HH and although the HH is considered a flawless knife by production knife standards, all three of my EI's are a miniscule notch above the HH IMHO. It could just be a coincidence too.

Regardless, the three EI's are in my stash and the HH is in my pocket as I type this :D

The box is marked EI

What are the differences you have noticed?

I've got two HH coded D2 Para's, which to me feel like different knives.
These are the main differences ( sorry cheap seat member unable to post pics).

Para A : Steep radius curved blade tang,Top jimping has the edges beveled, "soft" feeling closed retention.

Para B : Shallow radius curved blade tang, Top jimping is not beveled, Closed retention is very secure and closes with a precise sounding positive click. The Spydiehole also sits slightly higher than Para A in the blade.

Para A has been in my pocket for over eight months, worked hard and has almost gadly taken on a beater status . Para B still sits unused in its box.

I just feel like the overall finish and function is a half step better:

* The HH blade was very close to center but wasn't dead center. This corrected itself since I start carrying it, opening and closing it. It looks dead center now.

* Every EI was absolutley dead center when closed out of the box

* The grinds seem better on the EI's. The grind on the HH is a little wider and one side seems rougher than the other. That is working itself out with some stropping. The HH just seemed toothier.

* The plastic sleeve was shorter in length with the HH than the EI's. Obviously nothing big there

* The detent seems a tad softer on the HH

* As bodankers stated about one of his HH's, the blade on all my EI's, especially on the back spine and around the thumb ramp jimping seems to be dehorned and more of a satin finish than the HH I have. And way more finished than all the Militarys I own.

* The lock up is a little earlier on all my EI's but it's not late on the HH

* The lock takes more effort to disengage on the HH than the EI's

* The action is butter smooth on all four but with rock solid lockup. The action is so smooth on all four Paras that you almost expect blade plade when it locks up but there is none.

As I said, the difference is miniscule and may even just be me. And I am 100% satisfied with the HH. This is just something I noticed. The is such an awesome knife. Right up there with the Military which to me is easily in the top 10 best production folders in history for the overall sum of it's parts. I put the Para on that list too.

Reek have you noticed any differences in the Blade tang recess for the liner? the curves on mine are very different.

I'll have to confirm when I get home from work. I only have my HH in my pocket right now . . . Do you mean looking down on the tang between the liners when the knife is open? Or do you mean the radius on each G10 scale edge by the tang/pivot? My HH scale edges right now look identical and well grinded.

I mean looking at the blade tang when closed viewing from the pivot end ( the radiused curve in which the liner locks into when knife is open.)

I obviously have nothing to compare with, but mine (EI box as stated before) has a very satisfying little click when being closed and the detent kicks in (I really like that they use the lock for this in a cutout of the tang, very nice engineering), the detent holds the blade very nicely. The jimping is also very toothy, but I do miss the old Millie style jimping.

It opens extremely smooth, much more so than my Millies.

Congrats on getting one.

I just got one the other day. It's my first Para.I love everything about this knife, except the lock.I wish it just had a back-lock.I'm debating whether to sell or trade this one.

What don't you like about the lock? I specifically wanted it for the lock and to try the steel.

It's just a bit awkward to unlock for me anyway. It seems strong.I'd just prefer it had the same lock as the Chinook,Native,Stretch...etc.

The knife feels great in the hand. The ergos are perfect. The blade size, style, grind are all superb.

I just got one yesterday with the EI code, and it is definitely top notch in the fit and finish department.

Isn't EI the code for May 2009? That is just last month.

The only thing I didn't like was the black clip on the light colored G10, so I made a mod to the clip:

That looks great. I think I'm going to do that on the one I'm carrying . . .
