I was wondering if anybody has any experience with corrotion on cpmd2.

I know it's called semi-stainless and it has just barely enough chromium in it

to be on the stainless side. Now where I live right now it's 34 c.will the sweat

on my hands corrode the cpmd2 blade since I can't avoid touching the blade???:o

From what I've heard, the rust problem isn't all that big. Just wipe it with your shirt when you're done with it. and clean it off when you get home.

Yes, I have experienced corrosion on CPM D2. After months of carrying my D2 Military (like since that sprint came out), using it and giving it no care beyond wiping it off on my pant leg, I have today finally seen some rust. A total of two spots roughly the size of a period in this post (total), which I cleaned off with my thumbnail.

You might want to wipe yours down with a Tuff-Cloth or something once in a while. ;)

ive used my d2 millie to cut fruit a few times, no rust or patina.

just rinsed with a little water and dried on my pants.

It depends on your body chemistry as well. I have sweaty palms and my sweat seems to be very acidic. My fingerprints have caused rust on VG10 and 440C blades in warm and humid weather, so I generally go for H1 or coated blades on the knives I carry and use.

Im with you, I have sweaty palms and that pauses a problem with my carbon blades. Though I have never seen a 440c blade rust from it. You must have some really sweaty palms ;)

Smash05,
If by salt water you mean working on an off shore oil rig or the mid/aft deck of an anchor boat in the gulf of Mexico or off the West coast of Africa, or possibly 20yds from the coast line in N St.John, NewFoundland for 28 to 46 day hitches?. Then you have had better luck than me.
D2 stinks on ice in my experience for this type of enviroment, maybe I ask too much, likely so. It started to patina on me only after a week on the supply docks in Fourchon, LA. VG-10 or H1 is VASTLY superior in this salt environment. In a non marine enviro, it is good for holding an edge for a good while, that's why all my D2 stays at home for off the job duties.

I have had mine in and around the shoreline for a week no problem. Its going to patina I suppose at some point, but I am not worried about that all that much. H1 is going to be superior in corrosion resistance, as will any "stainless" grade knife.
