I'm in need of some CPM-D2 in a thickness around .125 but really a bit thicker like between 1/8" and 5/32" so i can surface grind it down to around .135 or so. now if it is already ground to .125 that could work. I am looking for a long term source not just one chunk but one chunk would get me started experimenting. I was thinking of calling crucible but was not sure if the TX branch was still open and taking orders? thanks my friends

o ya and any good heat treat data for the CPM version of D2. I could not find really info on crucibles site.

Good luck finding any, my friend. Crucible only made 2 melts of the CPM D2, and a lot/most of it went to Spyderco and Kershaw, from what I understand. From what I hear, they don't plan on making anymore. :( Too bad, cuz I like this steel a LOT. Heat treat would be pretty much the same as regular D2, though. I made a few blades out of CPM D2 and Russ Andrews heat treated them the same way he's been heat treating D2 since the 70s; they came out at a Rockwell of 60.5.

Tks has some of the cpm D2,just talked to them the other day looking for cpm154 which they don't have.Stan

so has any one noticed a big diffrence with the CPM D2 compared to the standared D2
