CPM M4 - like finding Sasquatch

Companies may shy away from M4 because its low corrosion resistance can still end up being a liability since outside of knife 'aficionados' like us, people do not understand what they have and complain about it rusting.

Benchmade occasionally makes popular models in M4. They are coated and I prefer bare steel but at least it is an option!

Two versions of PM2's and the GB2 will be in M4 from Spyderco coming in the future.

I have heard that dlc coatings can be broken down with hydrogen peroxide. So if you do have a coated blade, that might be an alternative to sanding.

I haven't tried my 770cfm4 yet, but likely by sunday I will have mine done.

I own a 770, the aluminum handled one. Wharnies don't really do it for me! Dunno why, I just like some belly. The 770 in aluminum is sorta chunky, and I don't like the assist on it. My knockout it de assisted but the detent is nonexistent, so it's almost unusable.

The Air is a wharnie, the spydie hole seems to make the knife so fragile as to be a concern, and I didn't really like the feel of the handle all that much. Too fat for such a little knife. My Mnandi's ergos are way better.

I really like the PM2! Ergos are just incredible on that blade. Makes you realize why Sal is like The Dude with production folders. It's a tad big, and so it doesn't get all that much pocket time. Poor bloke. Feel bad! Such a great blade, but the small seb, Mnandi, 940-1, Sage 1 all usually just edge it out.

I've got the Northwoods Indian River Jack in CPM 154 and that thing is AWESOME. I'd love something just like that in M4.

I don't worry about corrosion as much as a lot of folks do. M4 has 4% Chromium, so it's not like it's going to rust out like O1 or 1095.

This is my experience as well. After use, I make sure the edge is clean and dry. Haven't found any signs of corrosion so far.

Mine has picked up a patina and a few small spots. I think a lot of it depends on what you use the knife for and how you clean it afterwards.
