CPM s110v has arrived

I still need to purchase both Damascus versions, I am hoping santa will be generous this year.

Sorry guys, I am a little late on this thread. I ordered a S110V Shallot Saturday, and it shipped out today, Monday, 12/1. and will arrive on Wednesday. I did Google S110V, and it seems the Shallots with the 110v are available at every online dealer. In fact, if there is a limited run, as stated in one site, to 600, I don't see how Kershaw would even be able to produce such a limited number, considering the cost and effort involved in set up, etc. Anyway, if the run is limited to 600 (maybe that is 600 per dealer) it would seem there would not be enough, to even go around to all the dealers. There does not seem to be a problem finding them.... nobody seems to be out.... I must be missing something here.
I bought a Splinter with the AUS8A blade, and what a sharp knife. I don't know how well the edge will hold up, (so far good.. I use it daily) but it would amaze me if the S110V steel was as good as, or better than this steel. This is the first Kershaw knife I have owned, (about 3 weeks now) and am looking forward to the assisted opening, as this one can be a little tough on the thumb....... after opening and reopening, and opening .. about the 10th time I get this recess in my thumb... maybe it's like playing the guitar, you have to develop callouses

I believe the final count on the plain edge version was 598 total pieces, and like 350 for the combo's. Get them while you can.

Howdy OB. I don't know who you ordered from but some of the on-line dealers you are looking at might not be stocking dealers. That is, they take your money and then go to a distributor or stocking dealer and buy the knife. It is then shipped to you. Where you might run into problems is if you happen to order from one of these retailers, and then they can't find a source for the knife. There are many stories in the GB&U here that describe this very thing.

As for the final production number, Thomas or Tommie would have the correct answer. EDIT: GG on the spot! ;)

And to address your last statement, you'll like it!

I would have never guessed that so few of the 110 Shallots have been made, at least it seems like a few. I am glad to have one on the way..... I also ordered, at the same time, a DMT, double sided DiaFold sharpener, Fine/Extra Fine. Is this sharpener suitable for the Shallot and Splinter???? I have some Norton water stones, however, they seem a little soft???? maybe not. (220 through 8000 grit.)
thanks for the info Thomas.

SPXTrader............... I ordered from KnifeWorks, which is also the place I found a link to this board. (And this board is great. I asked a question about the screw size and type on the Shallot and Splinter and where to find the tool, and got two guys that posted information. I picked up a Husky brand set of Torx drivers at Home Depot yesterday... which is close to me, and the set is a bit less than the Kershaw tool, and has more bits.) The knife was shipped today, so I guess he had it there???? Seems to be a good place to shop..... seem to be great people. I did wonder about seconds, but would think Kershaw probably does not let out seconds on a knife like this, but I don't know..............(I am really new to the knife world..... guess I didn't have to state the obvious.....ha.)

KnifeWorks has received good reviews. Here's a link to a search done in TGB&U forum.

Ask away about anything. There's a good bunch of very knowledgeable people on this sub, and I'm sure if your questions can't be answered, you'll be pointed in the right direction!

Enjoy the addiction! :D

SPXTrader.... about the link,
openblade, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

So, I guess, I need to upgrade or something? Don't know exactly what is going on there.

I will enjoy the addiction as long as my wife doesn't find out......LOL.... It's a little crazy. I have been shaving with a straight razor for a year now. I have enjoyed it, (got several of them, plus strops, mugs etc) but wonder about it all sometimes.... I also bought an old Kochs barber chair about a week ago... WHY, I DON'T KNOW. Well anyway, one has to have something to do for fun, and I think this is GOOD, now. One thing I have noticed about this board, it goes all hours of the day and night..... so if you can't sleep, you can read........................

Sorry about that. Searching is limited to paid memberships. You might need a basic membership to get there, but try this link:

Regardless, KnifeWorks has a good rep from what I can tell, but I didn't read all of the threads.

I'd love to have an old barber's chair. Years ago a friend of mine had 4 in his den. Nothing else to sit on! About the wife thing...get P.O. Box. Well worth the investment!

SPXTrader...............:o:o That is funny, to be sure, but I guess it would work. However, I got all my money out on knives and razors... I'll just have to face the music as things show up... Till then, I will enjoy the toys.:p
Guess I better see if this Kershaw will open one more time then hit the sack.

At least I call them the twins.... the 110vcombo and compsite ZDP shallot. Twins because at first they look the same but there are little differences like weight and blade thickness..

Also, beacuse I carry both because I can't decide which performs better. ZDP thin blade is the better slicer... and the 110v is more of a workhorse.

Both hold their edges extremely well

I am a steel junky, and while SG2 was amazing, because of the thin grind, the blade was apt to warp if you were in a situation where you HAD to chop a little. So, I no longer carry.

Oh, I also carry the damascus scallion for little jobs
