IV Herd s 30v is hard to sharpen and
I did not have a issue maybe I'm just
Better than I thought I used a Dimond stone
And gave it a nice finish

This was easier to sharpen then I thought
It would be could this mean my spyderco paramilitary
2 is a fake

I don't think it's fake I've looked at it and comparedo
It to the ones I've seen on the Internet
It has the date code on the tang
And everything is perfect I don't see any redflags

S30V takes a little effort to sharpen. I spent 20 minutes on a Benchmade Volli using diamond stones. It's just a bit of patience really. It seems like more effort when some AUS8 knives or 440 can take only a couple minutes to get a razor edge on.

I think its fairly easy to sharpen... Although i have learnt to sharpen S110V before S30V...

Diamond stones will make short work of many steels. Especially if you are using a jig like the wicked sharp or edge pro.

I get no luck trying to freehand on the Spyderco diamond rods, none at all.

Yeah its not to bad to sharpen, especially for how long it keeps its edge. Still one of my favorite steels, very well balanced imo.

Thanks for the replys I have hade the pm 2 for 2 years
And finally decided to re finish the edge
I am loving my spyderco it's nice to own a paramilitary 2
But it's a lot nicer to use it cuts great does not shave hair
But cuts vary clean I'm currently waiting for a native 5 light weight s35vn can wait to try that out

I've used knifes with
440a
440c
420j 2
420hc
Aus8
Vg10
8cr13mov
7cr17mov

And so far my favorite
Is 420hc boss heat treatment
And cpm s30v

s30v is considerably quick to regrind with diamond stone
also done my para2 quite fast
diamond paste for stropping really helps to get it very sharp

I wint back and gave it a small micro bevel
And strop it and now it's a lot sharper and the edge has a nice polish look I wish I tried s30v a lot sooner it cuts
Vary well

Diamond stone will make any blade easier to sharpen. But Generally speaking S30V would be imo about midway in sharpening difficulty. Considering all the lower end like 8Cr13Mov, AUS8, Sandvik, 1095 then on other spectrum something like M4, S90V, S110V, M390 (and its CPM/CTS counterparts).

Generally speaking its not about difficulty sharpening but rather length of time required to produce same effect. If you have diamond stones any blade steel would be much easier than other types but all it is length of time; how many strokes to sharpen. That's it.
