The ballistic Micarta I'm using varies a lot in color. I liked the effect here, but wanted to post both sides so you can see that one is darker than the other.

I'm tapped out a bit myself:o I really like the color variation in that ballistic! I am definitely going to have to pick some up, but I can only find it in 1/8" thickness and most of the steel I have is 1/8" or 3/16" so I need some 1/4" material.

Guess we'll let somebody else have at it......

So what exactly is ballistic micarta? Is it the same stuff as ShotBlocker?

Apparently, Norplex makes this stuff for building ballistic resistant walls and desks, and I guess anything else. It has this crosshatch weave that I really like. I tried ordering through Norplex directly, but basically was ignored. After a phone call and a few emails trying to figure out which product I needed, I was finally sent a quote - for standard Micarta. I haven't decided whether getting more is worth the hassle to deal with them: http://www.shotblocker.com/about.php
