??????????

thx.

I hadn't heard that, but of course it may be true.

In my own experience, with quite a few blades of each, I haven't noticed any difference between the two with respect to corrosion resistance.

If I remember right, in one forumite's tests S30V formed surface rust sooner, but VG-10 sustained damage first. The surface rust formed on S30V simply wiped off with no visible damage, where the rust on VG-10 actually pitted the surface.

Check out the Crucible site for s30v information.

I have experienced the service rust in the hot rolled stock I grind with the s-30v but have no experience with grinding vg-10. According to Crucible s30v is much more corrosion resistant to the majority of steels, but there is no comparison to vg-10.

From what I've heard, S30V has very good edge retention, but VG-10 has VERY good corrosion resistance, as well as good edge retention.

I think VG-10 is a great all-around steel, but I wouldn't hesitate to purchase S30V either.

VG10 on Spyderco blades is more corrosion resistant, from use on my end. Possibly one factor is that VG10 blades are polished to a higher degree as compared to S30V on Spyderco blades?

both will rust, but ZDP189 is a real rust magnet due to the higher carbon steel.

Look up on Spyderco forum, the CPM S30V does better corrosion resistance overall. My yang just won't quit surface rusting on me, and I use it everyday in the kitchen. Only if they make S30V yang......

The sweat off my hands has made me oil a few knives in VG-10 because they were showing light marks but ive not had the same problem with S30v dont know if that means anything though.
