CPM-s90v Tanto
Made from 5/16" CPM-s90v steel 61rc, 10" overall, 5.5" blade, handle is red cord, the edge on this knife is honed to a rolled convex edge, full tang for maximum strength. This is a very heavy duty knife with a high performance Crucible steel. No sheath. thanks for looking, Farid

question about steel cpm rex 121.more accurate test results on cutting rope.strange results.
I understand that the geometry of the blade is not very suitable for such tests.but I was expecting better edge retention.
for example,at similar sharpening,30 degrees angle and similar geometry(scrap),knife from KR Enki Vanadis 4E gave the best result in several times.
You too love tests. I hope you will help me to understand what the problem. in general I am satisfied with K2 folder,is a unique knife.I really appreciate your work.
about details better on my pm ,I think so...
thanks in advance

Hi slava, in the past the question has come up regarding the edge retention of the CPM-REX 121 steel, it was never designed for the knife industry as it is primarily a ‘Tooling Steel’ designed to bridge the gap between solid carbide tooling and high speed steels, you will get the REX 121 quite sharp with CBN around 4 micron right at the edge but it will never retain a hair popping sharpness, bottom line is it is around 38% carbide and was never designed for knives but due to the kind of maker that I am I like to sometimes experiment with steels nobody else have used in this industry and also it gives everybody an opportunity to experiment with different steels too, it is a quest to find out about steels. Although I like to experiment with different steels I will say a grade of steel with much lower carbide will be more suited for the knife industry but that will not stop me experimenting with different grades of steels.
I hope to some degree I have answered your question.
As time goes by I am getting closer to making up my mind which grade of steel I think is superior for a knife application, when I’m ready I will share with everyone what I have learned.
Thank you
F

Hi Farid ! glad to see you !
I also love the evil steels )
Thank you for the quick response.Yes, I understand you, reason is carbide size.sharpening on the DMT 220(60mic) most optimal,in this instance.and it showed my tests.
twice as the best result than the finish on the DMT 1200(9mic).
I heard you do not plan to do K2 cpm rex 121.and how much was made of knives К2 rex ?
yours respectfully
Slava
