Ive went over the crucible data and the heat treat seems to vary with several options..vacume, oil, air? What heat treat have you guys been using for thin knife sized sections? Its seems a 2100° austinizing temp with a 1000° temper should yield a hardness of appx 63rc..How is the steel responding to plate quench? Thanks

I just did a couple s90v hunters and was getting 64-65rc before temper, plate quenching from 2150. 2100 got me 63-64rc. You won't have any trouble getting hard with the plate quench.
I think a 20min soak minimum at austinizing temp is one of the factors when using high alloy steels. Also research what Phil Whilson (I hope I spelt his name right) has to say on the high Vanadium steels.
