I've been eyeballing these kitchen knives you make for a while now. Never before has a kitchen knife ever really caught my eye like yours do.

sadly this was to be part of a high end set but the burl did not work out for me on the santuko i hope to get to makeing another set but i think it will be a little
 
Having seen this one in Butch's shop, I have to say that those pics don't do that burl justice...It's REALLY nice stuff. Now I just have to talk Butch out of some of it.... ;)

Hey Butch, when're we taking a long weekend to visit your uncle? I'll have a small trailer I just have to go pick up! :)

I too like the burl handle. Do you find that wood does better for kitchen knives than macarta or corian? Or do you do it for the beautiful looks only? My wife told me I could make her some kitchen knives and I'm debating on handle material.

this burl was not stablized so care must be used
not to say that the tung oil finish will not hold up any good knife should be well cared for
if someone wants wood and they are are new to the proper care or the knife is to be a gift i think it would be a disservice to not use something stablized we all have oops now and then but few things hurt more then finding out a knife slipped into the dish washer or the sink over night
so that brings us to the long of the short
for me mycarta or stablized wood
my grandmother on the other hand had me rehandle a old hi carbon knife for her the handle rotted off might have taken 40 years to happen but happen it did it now sports a maple burl stablized handle that will out live her and most likly what ever famly member that gets it next
