CPM154 heat treat

Hello everyone I was hopeing someone could help me with the heat treatment for cpm154 I thought it was an air harden steel but the sheet that I got from Crucible has instructions to oil quench .
 
It air quenches fine but plate quenches better. Same temps as shown in the crucible tables. We double wrap in foil - use 1950 - 45 minutes soak - Liquid Nitrogen - and then double temper 2 hrs at 500F for about 61 RHC - pretty much what the published tables suggest.

Customers very happy with the results.

A couple extra points. The hard part is getting enought paper in the envelope to eat up the oxygen without blowing up the envelope.

Putting envelopes in a pre-heated oven almost guarantees a blown envelope.

Plate quench still in the foil. The hot steel never sees oxygen.
