CPM154 - how much to bevel prior to HT?

I'm working on my first slip joint and have my design all sketched up. I'm about to begin profiling the blade and spring out of some .103/.113 x 1" CPM154 bar. I'm wondering how much of the bevels should I put in prior to HT. Too much and I suspect the blade will warp during quench. Too little and I'm worried that it will take forever to grind in the bevels. I'm leaning towards putting in a simple 45° bevel on each side leaving about 0.025" in the middle. That doesn't seem like a lot of material to remove, so I'm not sure whether or not it'd even be worth doing. I suppose any material that can be removed prior to HT without resulting in warping will be time saved after it is HTed and harder to grind. My biggest limitation is grinding. I only have access to a 1" x 42" grinder, which can't remove material as efficiently as a 2" x 72". If anyone has experience grinding thin CPM154 prior to HT I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks,
JC

I grind my bevels after HT with CPM 154. You have very little to remove it shouldn't be a problem even for a smaller grinder. The 45's you want to grind shouldn't be a problem.
