Cpm154

The CPM steels have an advantage of having the carbides smaller and more evenly distributed .That means for the maker easier to machine and grind and for the user better performance. This of course comes at a higher price.

if CPM154 is powdered with added vanadium, wouldn't that make it similar to RWL34 made in Sweden, which is powdered ATS34 with added vanadium?

It would.

I have used a blade made from RWL34 and still think it is the best stainless you can get. Very little work to maintain. Keeps an edge for very long and very much finer than S30V. To me S30V is a PM D2 version in terms of edges.

RWL34 is not as fine as carbon but very fine for push cuts.

Any 154CM blade i was using has to be stropped after a week (average use of one how works at the office) RWL34 any third week. No microchipping at the edge, which could be remarked by your fingernail. Great!

It should be as strong as HS steels but i only have information from the steel mill itself, so i don´t know.

Roman Landes did test this steel and considering toughness it is better than 154CM and other stainless. Not as good as PM HS steel.

For short blades my preference.
