help!!
i just found out that i ordered some cpms35v insted of 154cm how does this material compare to the 154cm is it arount the same or should i just order some 154 insted?

If it is CPM S35VN, keep it. If you can't do it yourself, send it out for heat treat. It is some tuff stuff and makes a great knife.

You probably won't ever order CPM154 again after making some knives with CPM S35VN.
The steel works and HTs like CPM154. It is a tad tougher after HT, but not difficult at all.

You really love that S35VN don't you . I've tried them all as EDCs , 154CM, CPM154, S35VN, S30V .They're all great steels and I do favor S35VN But I don't see a HUGE difference from CPM154 or S30V.Maybe a maker sees other differences ?

Both are great kitchen knife steels, but you are correct in that I have developed a fondness for CPM S35VN. It is all Aldo's fault. He sends me a sheet for nothing every now and then ( just like a drug dealer), and has it in the thin sizes I want.....which reminds me I need to order more.
I think it is partly the consistency. It works rather easily, and gives a very consistent product. HT seems very consistent in its results. I find the edge retention better.
Is it better than CPM-154 - YES.
Is it 50% better than CPM154 - NO.

Given the small price difference I may have to go that route for my next stainless batch. That might be a while though, so far I've only gotten the cpm154 batch profiled. I decided to practice on the new machine with 1084 rather than expensive stuff.

I think it was only $3 per piece more for the size I was looking at, very reasonable difference.
