I wanted topost this here instead of the Reviews forum because I've bashed plenty of Benchmades in General in the past. I've been avoiding Benchmade's products for a while due to their inane warranty and pricing policies, not to mention my past experience with their shoddy QC. Well, I broke down and bought a 690 with the BC1 blade yesterday. I'm eating crow, as Benchmade has gotten it's act together on their liner locks and overall QC. I inspected a couple of 690s and 450s and all had very good fit and finish, the best I've seen from Benchmade. I had the pleasure of comparing the 690 with the custom Elishewitz version (not sure of it's nomenclature) and I don't see why anyone would pay $400+ for the custom when the 690 is so well made. The blade is ground very well and the edge is the sharpest I've experienced from Benchmade (it rivals my Spyderco Starmate). I still refuse to buy any Axis locks due to my refusal pay for shipping for a broken omega spring, but I'll be acquiring a 450BC1 Park Avenue toute de suite! I'm happy to have Benchmade liner locks on my buy list again!
