CQC 14 Wave vs. Mini Commander Wave

Hello, I am considering purchasing a CQC 14. It appears to be an awesome knife. I have a Mini Commander and love it, but unfortunately it's illegal to carry concealed where I live. The CQC 14 is not. My only complaint about the Min- Com is with the Wave- it's way too small. It usually works, but not nearly as well as my Waved Delica or Emerson Karambit. My Karambit has a Wave that is much better (bigger) than the Min-Com. It opens reliably every time I take it out. So my question is this-Does the CQC 14 have a Wave like the Min-Com or more like the Karambit? I have looked at pics of both, and I think it's more like the Karambit, but I'm not totally sure. Unfortunately, it will probably be a few years before I am able to handle one in a store or knife show locally before I buy it. Has anyone handled both?

Thanks

Is the CQC 14 thick? Is the mini versions easier to conceal in jean's pockets?

Before I purchased any of my waved Emersons-7,8,10,there was alot of talk about the unreliability of the wave on these knives. It was said that another waved,I believe it was a Spyderco, was better. I bought these knives and have not had a problem with the Wave operation. What I did was open and close the knife manualy for about 175-200 times.I disassembled the knives and cleaned them with a bore cleaner, oiled and assembled them and adjusted the pivot screw.I have had 100% opens with Waving the knives. You shouldn't have a problem with the CQC14 as the length of the handle also plays a role in the operation of Wave. The wave clip catches the seam of the pocket anyway. The CQC-14 was made for blade laws so you picked a winner.

I've seen the CQC14 for around $150 from reliable online dealers if you do not have a local dealer. They usually have a return policy if it does not work for you.

Thanks guys. The Wave on my Min-Com is pretty good, but not 100%. The Wave on the Karambit is pretty much 100%. The size of the wave does matter, as I have a Delica with the Wave and it opens 100% of the time.

i think the 'reliability' issue is regarding the size of the wave. the spyderco version is much larger, and therefore is more likely to catch and open.

the waved 14 i saw did not look to be any larger than other models of similar size, ie the 13 and 12. in fact looked identical to me.

the wave on the kerambit is not really larger per se. however, the thumb serrations/ramp creates a different angle when apexing at the wave tip, creating a larger space to catch on clothing. but appears to be of the same length as my 13.

What makes the Mini Commander illegal to carry while the CQC 14 is not illegal?

the '14s blade is less than 3" and the mini-commms is 3.4 IIRC,

the size of the wave, with practice anyway, doesnt seem to have much effect for me, my SOCFK waves just fine and imho it has the smallest wave of any, imho waving is more in the technique vs the size of the wave.
