CQC-15 No Detent

I finally got a chance to disassemble and readjust everything, the blade was not contating the backspacer like I had thought, rather it was from assembling it I allowed it to tap the blade.

I knocked out the detent balls on both the lock bar and the secondary ball on the non-locking liner side and peed the pockets and reset them. I then reassembled it and voila!

Like magic the detent has returned to normal, and after several wavings and snap openings it has not changed, so I'll call it good and carry it for a few days and see what happens. So far I think it'll be good to go for many years to come.

Thanks STR!!

spidyman,
Glad to hear you got it under control. Mine operate smooth as butter now.
I'm new to Emersons, and so far I have to say I'm impressed with them.

this one has been my main EDC since march of 07 and has seen some rather rough use and has alwasy came back for more.
I think a coin or two got caught in the pivot area that got pinched when I opened it that messed up the detent ball position, a very unlikely condition, be careful if your new to EKI, hold onto your wallet as these things can suck it dry in a real hurry!:D

it really wan't too bad to do either, I used another 15 to get the detph measurement then, I sanded a teflon washer to thickness to act as a depth guide.

I knoced out the balls, then ever so slightly peened the holes from the back and around the perimeter and then tapped them back into place useing a delrin puch and an aluminum block. A few taps by a center puch to keep them from doing the same again.

spidyman,
I believe you about the wallet thing. I'm going to start a sale thread soon to support my new addiction. I need a CQC-8 and 12.:)
