CQC 15 what do you guys think?

I bought a 15 last Fall and am really happy with it. The combo of tanto point and recurve is unique and well thought out. It works well and I think it looks serious with it's overall straight forward profile.
The way the "wave feature" on the blade and the leading edge of the G10 handle form a virtual hilt is worth the price of admission. A real nice design feature.
Admittedly, Emerson's ain't cheap. But carrying one means you'll never have to apologize for what you're packing.
I know I have a quality piece that I can flick out with authority and confidence whether I need a razor sharp tool for daily use or a convincing equalizer in a threatening situation.
I however wish anyone interested in purchasing a CQC 15 lots of luck though. Emerson's website has recently eliminated the 15, the Persian and even the folding Karambit.
I am more than a little upset because I wanted to purchase a Persian next.
I am trying to compose myself before I call the nice ladies who I spoke to when I bought the 15, because I feel that Ernie has lost sight of the mission statement he professes to follow.
When a knife manufacturer pushes Tshirts and trinkets more than knives they're losing me.

I agree with most of your points, there defo has been some choice morsels thrown from the plate

The loss of the Persian is defo not good, IMO its the best looking EKI by far and my favorite folder of all time (thank you STR).

Welcome to the forums, cp2u!

This is no different than what Spyderco does year after year. Certain models are discontinued and new models are introduced to take their place. We may not always agree with the discontinuing of some models, but it shows on the companies sales records as to what is hot and what is not. I probably wouldn't have disco'd the 15, but then I don't work for the company. :(

I haven't noticed any switching of emphasis away from knives and I believe that you will find that the 'Apparel' and knives are two separate departments. I mention this because Emerson Brand Apparel have different invoices and I believe that Mary Emerson is in charge of that division.

Anyway, it is still early in the game and we have yet to see what comes down the pipe.

I just checked the site and the folding karambit and 15 are still there. Mr Emerson also said they are working on a mini cqc15. They wouldn't bother making a mini version if they were removing the 15

Yeah I am really thinking I want this knife, can anyone take a side-by-side picture of a 15 with a CQC 10 or 8?

A.P.F. thanks for the personal welcome.
I'm liking it here.
I googled the Emerson website and discovered that the gallery did show knives offered that my latest bookmarked Emerson site omitted. I have no idea what that is about, but thanks for the nudge to recheck my data.
Nevertheless, my next desired purchase, the Persian, is missing and not just out of stock.
Also, I have looked on other sites where Emerson's are sold and they are out of stock on the CQC15, Persian and other Emerson's with projected restocking dates of 12/31/10.
The coincidence of the understocked "official Emerson site" I had been visiting and the "we ain't got it and can't get it" in stock due dates of the other sites led me to fear the worst.
I'll have to check into this more. But I don't feel good about this and suspect something is up.
Anyway, here's to knives and the guys who dig 'em!
