CQC-7 input.....

Hi - new to the forum and Emerson knives. I've been thinking about a CQC-7B with wave. I have a bunch of other knives that I used to EDC, a SOG X-Ray Vision, Gerber/Applegate Covert, Bali-Songs, Bucks, etc. None have stayed as my EDC.. I recently aquired a CRKT Hissatsu Folder with the Outburst assit. I love this knife, but because of the blade design I'm affraid to use it for any actual cutting, other than self defense. Plus it's a bit bulky in the pocket. I'd like to know how the Emerson CQC-7B holds up to everyday cutting and self defense use. How durable are the blade coatings? And how comfortable is it to carry daily?

Thanks for the help!

they rock, i had one for a few years. finish holds up relatively well. very tough and user friendly(e.g. you can actually take it apart with just a philips head).

son of a very nice word! man, i just did a trade with a guy, and we both sent del. confirmation and mine says it was delivered today but it wasnt!!!!!

i will be there when they open, but i think i am very nice word!!!

very nice word the PO.

SORRY, i just had to vent

The 7s are great knives, the 7s and commanders are probably the benchmark knives for EKI and by far the most popular.

I think you will be more than happy with your new knife

I agree with Haze, you can't go wrong with a CQC-7. They are definitely a keeper!

Never get rid of a "7". You'll just end up getting another one. Trust me.

I have the Mini 7 and it is a great knife. You will be absolutely happy if you get a 7 .

i'd go without. my old 7b had it, and it is cool. but i always found my self wanting to pull the knife out more casually without waving it. also, i am not always wearing pants/shorts that hold up well the the hook. and it does look ugly. as you might have read, i just got a waveless 7a and it is the king!

Maybe I'll try out one of each. Are the A models harder to find than the B models?
Congrats on your waveless 7a, that's one purdy knife!

thanks. yes, i am no expert, but for sure the A models are harder to come by. they seem to always have B models floating around, but when they made the current batch of A models last year, i think it had been quite a while since then that they made A models.

what i really love about them, is i called them up and asked about a discontinued blackbird model. they have not made it for quite a few years. anyways, every other company is always stopping production and the nafter parts run out, you are screwed

well, they said they actually do have some extra locking liners after all this time, and even if they didn't they wouldn't leave me high and dry.

i tried the same thing last year with an old benchmade cqc and they said , sorry, but we can't help you.

i am DONE with other knife companies officially. i have been through soooooo many in the past year it is stupid. the emerson models are user friendly, tough, are ALWAYS backed up with spare parts at the factory and that is enough for me.

i love my paramilitary, but it just pissed me off today when i couldn't take it apart with out a t6 and 2 t8 torx, and a philips head! god forbid you weren't next to your toolbox when you needed to do something.

anyways, if anyone happens to be interested in a para, let me know,

cuz i am only rolling with emerson now.

Get the Wave. If you don't like it, and you will, grind it off or get a non-Wave.

Thanks for the input guys! Now I just need to find a dealer who has them in stock......
