I am having a problem with the Emerson CQC-7 that I just bought. The pivot pin/screw keeps coming loose. I have to tighten it down every other day of so.I have made no adjustments to the knife other than removing the clip and tightening the
pivot pin/screw when it became loose.
Has anyone else had this problem? If so how can I correct this short of using
Locktite? Can this be fixed at the factory?
I would appreciate any feedback that would help fix this.

Hi!

I think that this one of the most common "problems" concerning Emerson knives.
Both my Commanders and CQC-7 does this, doesn't bother me, use loc-tite or maybe some of this thread tape if it does, i'd prefer it to be like this then the reverse.
Nice being able to easily adjust the pivot tension.

I don't think that this could be fixed at the factory in another way then those mentioned, i don't consider this a design problem.

Hope that i helped...

I had the same situation with my new satin Commander, I just put a small drop of loctite (removable grade thread-locker, loctite #222 (low strenght/small screw threadlocker), parts can be separated using hand tools) and no more movement of pivot screw since

I have to agree with the above messages.

Strip the knife and give it a good clean, lubricate and reassemble then when inserting the pivot screw, put just the smallest drop of loctite on the screw threads and reassemble it.

Tighten just enough for the level of security or ability to 'flick' open you want and leave to dry.

Then hey-presto, no more problems.
