cqc 8 opinions

Great story 1A. Thanks for sharing that info.:cool:

not a prob bud, the '8 was my 1st emerson custom and i did a lotta research on them, i used to have a buncha stuff archived on my PC about '8s till it crashed and i lost it all, i only remember the basic stuff now, guess i'm getting old lol.

I just got my '8 yesterday. I love the damn thing, even though it kinda bit me. My bad.

It's a great knife. It fits in my pocket surprisingly well considering the size and cuts beautifully. And pulling it out sharply using the wave feature is sure to put a :D on most anyone's face.

none of my '8s has been waved suprisingly enough.............i have had 2 productions and a custom.

i'm probably gonna try and find another custom '8, a non waved non bolsterd '8 is one of the cheaper emerson customs, i have seen 'em for ~ $700, i dont like bolsters or waves on '8s really anyway,

but if i found a good deal on a waved satin '8 i might would have to grab it.

I'm a fan of the non-waved 8s my self. The waved 8s are still great but not as good looking IMO.
The non-waved 8s also have the swedge that was missing from the waved knives untill recently.

i got a cqc 8 a long long time ago

its the only knife i got and the only knife i'll need as long as i'm in california.

i did a ton of research and i've been very hapy with my cqc8

I just shaved my arm hair clean off with it. Real nice, smooth bald spot left. The way it came from the factory.

This is getting addictive. Quick!

Now I need a millie!

i have owned my non-waved cqc-8 surefire edition for five years. it is the best folder i have ever owned. i have used it so much that i have to send it back so that they can get the wiggle out of my blade. which i have to say they were excellent about, just send it in they said.it took me a little bit to get the hang of sharpening it, but i used it landscaping for four years and for everything else under the sun and it just keeps on going. might have to buy another one in case this one dies.

The Super Commander knife was(is) called the ES1-M. There were custom waved CQC8's long before the production models, too. All custom waved 8s prior to the production 8 had a swedge. In fact the last few waved bolstered 8's I've seen a shows and in custom orders have had the swedge.

i am doing a trade this weekend, and might go for a cqc8. i love the 7's, but i hate that after a long time and being reground, the tip pokes out of the handle when closed.

I'm surprised no one even mentioned why his blade is sticking out of handle. I don't think it should be like this?

if the tip pokes out something aint right & ya need to send it back to EKI imho.

none of mine have ever done that.........

I'm kinda torn between betting a mini-8 and an A100. It seems they aren't that different in size, the mini-8 may be a tad shorter in length opened than the regular A100. On both of these knives, I like the generally simple blade shapes, cool handles and good looks. But I'm just going by the catalog received today.

How does the mini-8 feel during pocket carry? Any comments on it as an EDC knife? The mini-8 would seem to be almost a perfect knife.
Thanks,
Jim

Cureious: Why the mini 8 (horseman) and not the regular CQC-8?

Hi, I generally prefer Emersons around the 3.3" to 3.5" blade length for regular, clipped-on carry. Mainly because my pockets are often stuffed. Though I carry Endura-sized Spydies down in-pocket (they are lighter for their size).

I just got mine today; its pretty damn near perfect.

Congratulations!
I just sold my faithful production 8(waved), so I could pick up a Super 8.
I'd love to get a custom 8 someday. With the wave, the way God intended it to be.
:)
