Hi all, fianlly maged to get a CQC-T from ebay a few days back - one seriously sweet bit of kit :)

I have two questions regarding the maintenance of it.

1) How should one clean the black covering on the blade? I did some test cutting with it (very impressive!) and the covering got a bit marked up.

2) What angle should it be sharpened to?

Thanks,

James

I have stained up my v-tac a bit, while cutting down vines and sappy stuff like that. WD-40 took all the sap off in a few seconds.
I have not had any coating come off, yet. I have only used mine for light prying of wood, chopping up firewood, removing sheetrock and wooden walls. it has held up good, so far. Actually, it would probably pass as new.
As far as sharpening angle goes, I am not sure. I have sharpened mine freehand with a sharpening steel, as I have done with all my hawks so far.
It seems to work pretty good, and, it will shave the hair off my arm.
Good luck with your hawk. I have 3 ATC hawks now, one in each vehicle as well as one in the house. Theey are pretty handy to have around.
