I want to apologize for my previous CQC6 post asking about the current value of same. It wasn't nor is it for sale--sorry. Had I known I would get such a response I would have said it wasn't for sale when I first posted. While I had a ballpark idea of it's value, I thought pocket wear would diminish it's worth to a far greater extent than it does. I am amazed that 6 years after I bought it at the Eugene Knife Show (only one in the room--thought I overpaid at $625) at what was at that time the height of Emerson Handmade popularity (there were only handmades then of course)that it is worth three times the original price. It has always been my favorite piece, though.
If it helps, shortly after the Eugene show I ordered a CQC6,7,8 and 9. About a week later I changed the 6 to a 5. After all, who needs two 6's? Should have gotten both. Who knew? No, the others are/will be keepers too--don't have the 7,8,or 9 yet. Thanks for all the replies, and advice. Kudos to Mr E. for a remarkable product. Now about those $125- $150 CQC6's, where might I find them and will they take paypal?

Well, that's what this place is for...learning. I must admit even I emailed questioning if it was for sale. Man I would love to get my hand's on a custom Emerson -- especially a used one with "pocket wear" maybe that way I could afford it!!!
No problem -- nice collection -- you will fit in well here. If you are new and love Emersons and have not checked out the post titled Emerson Custom Gallery you should. It might be a page or so back (just go back a few days to find it) It is a project run by several of the Suspects here with Amazing pictures of other Custom Emersons. Welcome to Bladeforums.

I was speaking with a knife dealer a couple of weeks ago, he specializes in more the "Case" and "Remington" style knives.

We were discussing a wide variety of maker when Ernies customs came up. He mentioned that he was kicking himself because he had the opportunity not to long ago to purchase a used custom CQC7. He'd passed on it because he thought being used, he wouldn't be able to resell it for enough to make a real profit and that there was no way he would be able to get it refinished to bring the price up on it.

Imagine my surprise when he tells me that the guy wanted a whopping $200 for the knife!

I'm sure someone got a deal.
