CQC7 Why no plain edge?

Is there going to be a plain edge CQC7? I put off buying the Benchmade version too long, then it went out of production. (Dumbass...) I was overjoyed when I saw the real-deal production Emerson version, but that joy turned to bitter disappointement when I realized that it is only offered in the useless (especially for a 3.3" blade) 50/50 edge format.

Of course, I could always vote with my $$$ and just get any number of cool tactical folders from other comapanies, but I'd hate to have to pass on the CQC due to the company not providing consumer choice.

PS. I don't see serrations on any of Mr. Emerson's handmade pieces, so I'm at a loss as to why the production versions don't at least offer a choice...

From what I remember, they are offered in plain edge. I think someone asked this question a couple of months ago. Did you call Emerson knives.

Emerson literature indicates available upon request. Don' t want to translate into what that means.

Well that's all fine and good but...

Here's the problem:

CQC7, average internet dealer price: $90US
CQC7, Emerson Knives "suggested retail" price on website: $139.95US (I guess I'd be paying this price, since I'd have to "request" the knife directly from the factory... NOT!)

Either way I'm paying a fair buck, due to the currency exchange rate and whatnot. It's just that if I order directly from Emerson, I pay *way* more for what I realistically should be able to get at the same if not lower price. (less tooling/one less manufacturing step for a plain edge blade.)

Oh well... The BM Stryker will probably be a better day-to-day cutter anyway. Sigh. That CQC chisel grind still does it for me though.

The CQC-7 is available in a plain edge configuration. The knife is only available from Emerson Knives Inc. directly. The reason is that 90% of the production knives sold are of the 50/50 variety. Ernie simply does not want to run off a few hundred plain edge CQ's and have them sit around the shop.
