CR Fluorinated Grease vs other lubricants

Just like tie rod ends. If I can't see a 1/4" bead all the way around after everything is bolted down tight, it's under-lubed.

:p /humor

Exactly. No offense to anyone, but I shake my head a bit when I read these sorts of threads. I bought a tube of the CRK grease back in 2009 (when my CRK came with none) and that tube looks to be essentially 90% full to this day. Are you guys buttering your toast with this stuff?!? I cannot see running out anytime soon.

I will admit to possibly over lubing my knive both in frequency and in quantity, however if that's the worst thing I do all day then I think I'll sleep just fine.
In my deffense this is what my knife looked like about a month or so after I last cleaned it.

So I believe(in my case) it's not over lubing. I just have to clean it so often which in turn means I have to re lube quite often.

If there is more lube than necessary, it will gather debris and hold it in place (whereas a "dry" surface will allow dust, lint, sand, ect. to fall away for the most part).

I'm not saying that is the case above, but I work in a pretty dusty and dirty environment and the less lube I use, the better;)

Mileage has been shown to vary....

^^I might consider keeping a can of air if I had to clean that often..Personally, I have air compressors at work and at home..but canned air can be a good thing for going a bit longer between takedowns.

When I don't have a compressor around, there is ALWAYS a convenience store or fast food joint. I grab a straw and just use my own wind. It works pretty good.

I personally like the Nano Oil 85W in my large CF Sebenza and CRK grease in my small cf Sebenza. The 85W provides the feel I prefer when opening and lasts for me. I didn't care too much for it in my small CF seb. Tried several times to like it. Like I've read others say it stiffened up. Love it in the large.

I typically use CRK lube and still do but if the smoothness starts to wear off I rinse under hot water, blow dry, and apply two drops of Nano Lube. The result is a butter smooth feel that is a cross between the CRK lube and Nano Lube. Easy to apply between tear downs.
