Cracked pole on this Kelly? / Sandvik Made in Germany sledge hammer axe?

Trying to decipher from photo's if this Kelly Axe & Tool Co's pole is cracked or just some minor cosmetic mark? Any life in her?

Also I am looking at getting this Sandvik Made in Germany axe. It looks quite strange the eye is in the middle so the pole has been designed as a sledge hammer type thing by the looks of it? What do you reckon?

Hmmm, that some weird crack. I have once seen similar damage... and it was racing axe, too. If only, I could find a patent detailing manufacturing process.

I have a head with a crack like that that isn't a racing axe. However, it was beaten on so much it had a side of the poll blow out and the crack form. These pics show it after 1/2 of an inch tall section of mushrooming was removed from the non blown out side.
