THis is a blade I heat treated some time ago, but I had to end up making myself a left handed one before I could comfortably finish this out.
This is a right hand oriented, single bevel grind convex crafting knife. I use mine primarily with leather and for purposes of marking and fine trim on toolbox making.
Overall, the knife is 8 3/8 inches long, with a spearpoint blade of 3 3/4 inches. Steel is 15N20, 3/32 inch thick.
Left side of the blade is ground flat, the right side has a single convex grind. In many ways, this is similar to a kiridashi, though I wanted a larger blade with a spearpoint profile. The spine is differentially tempered, allowing for mallet blows when chiseling. The flat side allows for vertical trim cuts and chisel cuts as well as work with marking materials using a straight edge.
Handle is wrapped with linen. The underwrap is single thickness linen cord, the overwrap is done with 4x thickness, plys twisted to form a larger line. Handle is soaked in linseed oil and cured.
Sheath is a blade cover, hand stitched and waterformed with a welt piece.
Asking $125 shipped in the US. paypal, money orders, and checks are all fine.
