Craftsman 1"x42"VS. 2"x42"?

I was wondering if there was a difference in them, other than belt width? I was looking at the 2"x42" in Sears the other day but happened to stop at a local pawn shop an they have the same looking sander, but it says 1"x42"? Is there any difference that will effect knives? Thank you
 
You will do better with the 2" wide belt, as it will gives you more surface area to stabilize the blade keeping it flat on the platen as your grinding. Belts will last longer and there is also a greater selection of belts in the 2" width versus 1".
