I use a craftsman 2x42 belt sander with Blaze grit sanding belts and ceramic platen. My problem with the sander is when I start my grind from my ricasso to the tip the grind starts high at ricasso and goes low at tip and I found out that my platen is angled by a hair and I am trying to fix it if anyone has ideas let me know. thanks guys.

Do you realize that you can make this problem yourself by simply not holding the blade perpendicular to the belt? I can't see your platen creating this problem because it is "out a hair". I have a 2 X 72 and my platen is out as much as 1/16 or more on 6" from top to bottom To see some of my work, go to customknifegallery.com and scroll down on the left had side to find me. Frank

I am holding it perpendicular and it grinds but i have to curve at last 1to2 inches of blade to make it grind higher and even.

That is just part of learning how to flat grind. You have to allow for every change in curve of the blade, taper, and platen alignment. Once yo get it down, you can pretty much pull a blade across the belt with an even grind. That isn't as easy as it sounds, and takes a lot of practice. Also, a fast sander is harder to control than a slower on.

Sounds like you are starting off your grind slowly and speeding up as you get towards the tip. You are also starting at a steeper angle and making it more shallow as you get towards the tip. Meaning that you are rolling the blade towards the belt as you get to the tip.

It's not the grinders fault, it just takes practice.

I'll chime in, with 175 knives or so off of my 2x42. My theory is that the machine bogs down a little as you grind, so it's not taking off as much metal on the second half of the pass. It's worse when you're cutting bevels in than it is when you are finishing. I can usually get it corrected with a few light passes over the uneven part (just the tip), then a few light passes over the whole blade to even everything out.
