Craghoppers (Grylls) Survivor Pants

nice review bud... expensive pants even on sale but the lifetime warranty does help. esp if you plan on ripping these thing apart

damn, they look like pretty nice trousers. and certainly from a quality company (I absolutely love my craghoppers kiwi trousers.)

I would get a pair but for two things:
1) I don't have the cash
2) I would then have to either remove the bear grylls branding, or admit to people that actually, maybe he isn't as much of an idiot as I first thought....and that would sting.

;) sharpie. I do it to the North Face Jacket I have

Joe thanks for the review! I had been wondering where he got those trousers since I have seen them hold up under some hard use that I know would have destroyed most clothing.

Just one question. Do they maske that famous nylon rubbing noise when you walk in them?

Not so much. The nylon isn't as stiff and is more pliable. I never noticed it, and I'll go home and make sure.

Yeah, that is the big seller for me too, and what really attracted me to them, thanks!

I wish somebody fat would review them and not someone with Joe's model like physique.
I just threw up in my mouth at the thought of me modeling. We'll see what happens in 10 years/beers

Craghoppers had a great sale on recently. Dunno if it is still running.

Sale is still running, but the sizes are pretty limited now.

I picked up a pair during this sale, and definitely like them as well and worth the money. Will be great during summer!

Also picked up a pair of flannel lined riggs workwear ripstop pants, and they are super fantastic during this winter time.

Is there a US source for these?

Doc

Not that I've seen, but shipping from UK to chicago was only about a week. Shipping charges are on par with anything shipped around the US as well.

So regarding sizes - should you go up a size or has married life started making you fat?:D

Are the Combat Pants essentially the same? What is the difference between the 2 other than pattern/colr and some pockets?

I ordered a size up, but my regular would've been fine too. The waist has a very slight stretchiness to it too.

The survivor pants has the reinforced butt and knees too, don't believe the combat pants do.

Craghoppers just had a big winter sale, so many sizes are now out of stock. I have their Kiwi pants and a bunch of fleeces that I got in the sale. I'm 6 feet and weigh about 180 pounds and about a 40" chest. The medium fleeces and 32"R pants fit me perfectly. With shirts I had to go large (Shoulders were too tight and arms too short on the medium).
If you get their stuff in a sale, then it's great value. They also ship international, any order size, for a fixed rate of about 30USD.

Just ordered a pair in dark brown, from your recommendation. I am only wary about if they fit, they had mid sizes which is cool, I like a little bit of room when I am running around in the woods surviving and stuff.:D
I'll do a review when I get them.

Duluth Trading has a heavy canvas pant for $50 with a lifetime "if you can tear/hole them, we'll replace them" warranty, zippers included.
They call them their firehose work pant - I keep thinking about it but haven't made the leap yet, since their "everyday work pant" works pretty well for me so far. (but no lifetime guarantee)

I missed the Bear Grylls branding on the belt loop, is that on all of them? I might have to get my Uma to unstitch that nonsense.

Hey Guys,
The Craghoppers Pants Review on woodsmonkey. I really loved these pants, fantastic stretch and a life time warranty
http://woodsmonkey.com/index.php?op...or-trousers-review&catid=39:apparel&Itemid=67

Hmm.

Precisely who's lifetime?

I'm interested ... but I've reached that certain point of eminence where the remaining duration of my own life might not be a particularly hard mark to meet!:D

On second thought, whoever was I planning to pass them onto? Even gajinoz would probably turn that behest down ... :o

Never mind.

i got a pair of BG combat and survival pants on that site...they had my size and the sale pricing was good...shipping only $12...unless his knife takes a huge discount i'll pass on that piece...

Thoughts on the Combats vs. the survival pants?

Wish they had em in somewhat larger sizes in the darker colour. By the time they get em back in stock, the sale will probably be over:(

I wonder what lifetime guarantee means for them? They only define returns for up to 28 days.

I've had the survival pants for a couple of months and really like them despite the Bear logo...he may do some stupid stuff, but Craighopper's does make quality clothing. I just ordered the Combat Pants for a side by side review. I'm 5'8" and about 190 and the 36 sizing gives me enough room for a CCW, and the "regular" size has a 31" inseam which works great for me; I would say their sizing is pretty much spot on.

Price-wise, they aren't too bad compared to other brands of "technical" pants such as Railriders, Northface, REI, Ex Officio and LL Bean.

I've just worn my pants around the house...working outside and some short hikes. I did a hike on the other side of our lake and it's choked with sticker-vines. No visible damage to the pants, but I did get a few stickers which poked through the pants and scratched me up...not bad considering how much I was trying to plow through (bringing a machete next time!).

My wife laughed at me saying that Bear doesn't really care for his clothing line because he's always taking his clothes off:D

ROCK6

Seems like Craghoppers is sold out in most normal people sizes! Not sure when they're going to restock. I need a 34w 33l

the survival pants are definitely one-of-a-kind, and they are great...those stretch panels are the bomb, they make the pants what they are, which is unresticted movement and protection in the field...the sizing is pretty much true...and "blacking out" the bear grylls tag is stupid; you're wearing them BECAUSE of grylls; if someone asks you who made them (and you will get asked) what you gonna say, Ralph Lauren?...

the combat pants are great because of the pockets...you gotta like the cargo pants look to begin with...obviously not as distinctive as the grylls survival pants but it's the best quality cargo-style pants i've every bought...if the sale continues and my size is still there, i will be buying at least 2 more pairs...they have become my weekend long pants...

I dissagree. if I where wearing them, it would be because they where good trousers. if asked I would say craghoppers. for the most part I suspect bears name is simply there for advertising purposes anyway...
