I'm trying to decide between CB's two different types of hawk, from everything I have read both steels are good, and it comes down to the HT and edge geometry. dose any one have any pros or cons for one or both of them? as in the final product.

Thanks for any and all help.

Ed Fowler is the king of 52100 steel and he said in an article that 5160 had very close to the same potential as 52100. You could probably search Blade mag for the article.

i did a search on here before posting and found it and it basicly said its all down to the HT. i was hoping for some first hand knowledge on CB's HT, if there is any point to go w/ one or the other or to just flip a coin and go that way.

Ask him and compare it to what Ed Fowler says. Fowler is a heat treat freak and uses only 52100 for his own knives. I believe he does multiple quenchs.
