it was sold from Reds Gear, through amazon. so I take it to Amazon/Reds Gear then?

It'd have to be sent to Reds I'd imagine. I'd send it to Becker though since it probably is just easier to get a new knife that way, assuming you want a bk9 still.

So you are going to rant about this on the general forum too? I think that it was a blade that was returned after someone abused it. For all you know, someone bought it, took it out of the box, and tried to pry open a safe door.

Regardless, Kabar will make it right for you.

Your picture of the tip is very fuzzy, I can't tell what is wrong with it from the photo. I will second the motion to take this to the Becker sub forum on this site, many experts there.

cramsey3006, im sorry if I am coming accross as ranting. this was not my intention. Personaly I love the becker design, and have always liked ka bar. thats mainly the reason why I baught it. although I do know that this is a manufacturing defect. I have seen it on quite a few kabars in my life. obviously one of the workers is pulling it through the grinder with either too much pressure, or leaving it there too long, making a swell at the hilt. I have done this myself on knives. It requires a steady hand and accuracy. it is obiouse that this knife was ran through "as efficiently as possible"-which is still ok. I just was not expecting this.

Talk to tooj on the Becker subforums he's a really great guy and will take care of you

And I have heard of ka-bar Becker letting a few lemons through the mill but it's a rarity and is always taken care of in a timely fashion

I wouldn't take it personally or suggest you should get angry. If you aren't happy with it, make a phone call. Nobody makes 100% perfect products.

Even if the distributor doesn't take care of it Becker will, send it to them...they aim to please :)

No worries man. It just rubbed me the wrong way. I just see SO many posts on the net about how a product is a piece of crap, blah blah blah, before that person has contacted the retailer or the manufacturer to remedy the problem.

If it's made by man, there's a chance that it could be less than perfect.

How would you feel if you ran a business, and someone had an issue with you/your product, and instead of contacting you about it FIRST and giving you a chance to make it right, they just got on the net and started complaining about it?

i ca'nt emphasize the importance of dealing only with reputable distributors. i've never gotten a sub- standard product from a established distributor.i believe this is the 1st complaint i've seen on a becker.

No your right, I suppose that I just wanted some opinions; along with my complaining.lol And I did act rashly about the situation.

Not a problem, at the least you owned up to it. Usually when something like this happens, the OP winds up running away lol.

It is easy to create thread when you are upset over something like this, cheap too! If I got a new piece of gear that was that messed up, I'd be pretty PO'd too, luckily I have been spared for the most part...except a low end Kershaw I got where the lock wouldn't engage. Luckily bought it at a B&M store and was a quick exchange.

I generally prefer to buy directly from Amazon rather than another dealer through Amazon. I think that if this had been bought from Amazon themselves then you could have them arrange for and pay for pick-up of the faulty knife and send you a replacement (well, I've heard of them doing that anyway). I've bought from Amazon over a dozen times and have had nothing but good service.

I would suggest that KA-BAR should not really be blamed here - they stand behind their products and will put things right if there is any issue. Because of this I think the thread title is a little inflammatory.

I believe that this is "Red's Gear"'s fault. Probably a used or returned knife that they sent out to you.

We've all been there. Bought a knife from a dealer who nobody has never heard of and got shoddy merchandise or bad customer service. A good life lesson. As other's have said, buy from a reputable dealer. Amazon(directly), newgraham, grand prairie, kniveshipfree are the ones I use and have never been found wanting.

What is it buy a knife from amazon month!? Come on guys, you'll get better support, easier dealings, and similar prices from most online knife dealers, there is almost never a good reason to take the chance of dealing with amazon when you can have a knife dealer take a look at your blade before they ship it out.

Very rare to see one of these threads with a stand up guy having the problem, good attitude!

I deal with Chestnut Ridge Knife shop for any Becker needs I have.

http://64.176.233.199/catalog/index.php

He is a Bladeforums registered dealer (user name CRKS otherwise I wouldn't have linked to him) and I tend to support forum traders over any other site...just too risky buying sight unseen from non-knife savvy peoples IMO.

He didn't buy it from Amazon, he bought it from Red's Gear.

That's where I would be sending all my frustration and complaints.

But you are right Eric, a knife dealer will take a look at your blade before it ships out and you will know for sure. A good service to be sure.

I still haven't figured out what you're so upset about. Is this one of those illusions where I have to stare at it out focus to see the problem?
