cratex wheels

K and G Knife Supply has them, and they are great for cleaning up solder joints, etc. They will smooth out the solder, but not cut into blade or guard.
I have been using them for a long time. They are only about 1 inch in diameter, and tapered to a sharp edge. The edge can be easily reshaped to radius, Etc.

Make sure you use the right type of Cratex wheels. They come in various grits and materials. I use the pink wheels for cleaning solder joints ( when necessary). Be cautious when using regular Cratex wheels in the guard area as they can make scratches or grooves that will be a lot of work to get out.

A better way to clean up excess solder is with a brass or bronze graver.

Yeah I would like to find some tapered wheels at least 1 inch thick. Try taking a electric engraver with a 1/8 brass rod with a graver point on those solder joints.
