I bought a Crawford KFF of the forms and it has been carried and used before. I called Pat Crawford and asked him how much it would cost to have it re-condition and he told me $ 100.00 does that sound right ? I have read about other knife company's doing for cheaper of just for the postage...

I should think it depends on what you want done and what the materials are. I contacted Pat a year or two ago about refinishing my bead blasted blade on a KFF and IIRC he quoted me roughly $25. That said I should also think that a BB is fairly easy compared to other finishes and I didn't need any handle work or anything else done to it so you may have wanted more done.

I'm sure it all depends on what you want done. I'm sure if you just wanted it cleaned it wouldn't cost much. If you want new screws, a new clip, a new or refinished blade, new scales, ect, basically a full refurbish to new, then $100 sounds right.

I just wanted the handles re-blasted and the blade has some very small scratches...I am not bitching, I was just woundering...I have just heard of other knife makers doing it for a lot less...

FWIW 2 yrs ago he BB the finish, installed new lock, re-signed the blade, sharpened and sent me a sheath on my KFF for $25 shipping included, did ya talk to pat or wes, i have heard wes quotes higher for this than pat. or maybe he just went up, $100 sounds high though to me .......

Many years ago when the Kasper Folder first came out I ordered one, beat the snot out of it for several months and sent it back in to Pat for refinishing. He fixed the lock, reblasted the blade and sharpened it, new clip\screws, and smoothed out a micarta scale I buggered up. All for the price of postage both ways. I couldn't complain at all there. Right now though, for all the above, I wouldn't mind paying $75-$100 if shipping is included in that figure.

Pat refinished a mini falcon for me last year. Reblasted the bolsters and clip, took out scratches on the blade and sharpened. The knife looks absolutely new now (have not used it since). He charged $50 and I got it back from him at the show here last September. $100 sounds a bit high.

IIRC someone posted he talked to wes about refinishing & was told they "didnt like to do that" and quoted a high price, but i have sent in my perfigo since then, no problem, just the return shipping cost.

make sure its pat ya talk to imho. pats really really a nice guy, we BS'd on the phone for 30 minutes last time i called about hunting in south tx.
