Crazy bowhunters

Holy Crap! I'm not sure I understand hunting Hippos and such(I am an avid supporter of hunting for food and protection), but that takes bigger balls or more stupid than I have.

I'm all for hunting for food, but hunting a hippo with a bow makes no sense whatsoever. To me that was just cruelty.... A kill should be made as cleanly and quickly as possible.

I didn't mean to insinuate poor ethics, just my lack of understanding. Some hunts provide meat and hide for locals. I'm just not sure I would want to hunt Hippos. Someone does though, obviously. I would have soiled myself, and I consider myself a fairly brave man.

I agree. Im a hunter , but I try very hard to make sure the prey is killed as quickly and humanely as possible.

I also think that if you're gonna hunt you should try to take every effort to kill your prey quickly, obviously not the case here. The guides who took these men out on there little hunting trip clearly put them in extreme danger letting them get that close to Africa's deadliest animal with a bow and arrow.

True, shoulda been a Darwin award moment.

I'd honestly be more concerned with the damage the hippo could do to me than humane reasons, but the result would be the same: I WANT A BIG BORE RIFLE if I'm hunting one or defending against one.

Agreed. No reason to do this.

It looks like the hippo was shot in the head right before the arrow took it in the face. This looks like a bunch of yahoos out for a thrill, so they can brag later about how they are big game hunters.

Anyone out there want to teach me to hunt? I went deer hunting a few times, never got a shot off. Maybe I should stick to fishing....lol.

Ive heard of African hunts before, and the archery equipment is required to to generate a certain amount of energy, soon as i saw his bow and aluminum arrows, I knew these guys are totally clueless. everyone's post so far are right on the money... 100% idiots that filmed and hunted like that.

I agree with you. It looks very clearly right at the end, right after the arrow goes in the nose that there is a shot to the head. You'll also notice that it goes very still right after that.

Have no problem with hunting and all but that's just a bunch of dangerous games.

I'm a hunter and that doesn't look very humane to me.Too bad it's on youtube

Hippos kill more people than any other African animal !! Sometimes I think videos like this are made just so the "hunter" can brag to his friends. If he's so skilled why doesn't he try that without the guide !!

What ever happened to a humane, quick kill? Obviously, that is not something the guides were interested in if they were letting some fellow go after a hippo with a bow. IMHO, those guides give hunting and hunters a bad name. They have no cajones whatsoever. Too chicken to turn down the hippo hunter who brings a bow (likely in the name of the almighty dollar), to chicken to only kill humanely and quickly, and too chicken to leave their own guns at home (as if to say, "a bow will not kill a hippo, but we'll try anyway"). Yes, those guys are definitely morons.
