Crazy Concealment Carry Idea... What do you think?

I hate to break it to you, but this isn't an original idea. Ever heard of the Kingkiller Chronicles?

The fake pocket thing sounds kind of over the top. I think you should try a shoulder holster (sheath) or maybe rigging something up with your jacket so that the knife is fastened inside?
Remember the shoulder rig Woody wore in Natural Born Killers?

I put an idea like this into practice a couple of years ago. The first requirement is that the knife sheath is kydex so that a Spderco G-clip can be installed on the side of the sheath away from the body. The second requirement is that you cut off the bottom of your pocket. You then simply put the knife into your pocket with the G-clip attached to the edge of your pocket. The handle will of course be visible ,but even a reasonably long T-shirt will cover it.
In fact I cut off the bottom of both front pockets on an old pair of hiking pants and have carried knives as big as the CS Gurkha kukri in one pocket and the CS LTC kukri in the other, for many hours at a time. I find a pair of sturdy suspenders keeps my pants from sagging.
I find that it's very easy to quickly draw a knife in this position as the handle is below the waist, instead of above the waist, as with conventional belt carry. However, as someone said above, resheathing the knife takes a little longer but really, who cares.
I love this system as it quick and easy to drop the sheath and knife into your pocket at the beginning of a hike and equally easy to pull the sheath and knife back out when you're done.
You can pass dozens of people on the trail, who might be horrified at the sight of a big knife bouncing on your belt, who won't have a clue you're packing heavy metal.
I got my spouse to actually sew on a pocket extension to the cut-off bottoms of my pockets, so that I can actually use the pockets to carry small items as well.
This method may sound crazy but I find it works beautifully.

When i was a teen i cut the inside pocket of the vest i always wore and carried a western bowie 14" long in there for a year or so. Worked fine.

I don't see how a folder and a glock is relevant to this threat.

nope, never heard of "kingkiller chronicles" but pissed if they stole "my idea" :)

yes, I am going to play with a shoulder rig... seems most practical. I forgot about nat born killers... good flick.

thx larryturko and venmm73 for the insight. i will probably try it out on an old pair of pants that i don't care about. hell, why not.

not a bad idea. my only concern is the lower you recess the sheath into your pocket so as to conceal the handle, the easier it would be to miss the mouth and punch holes in your pocket/pants, or even worse yet you could slice your leg open pretty bad. its different from a hip sheath to me because once its dangling around in your pant leg it'll be harder to find the sheath entrance and control it. especially since it will be visibly eclipsed as well.

That's awesome, custom cloths. That's a good one. Hey man, do it if it makes you happy. Just make sure it's legal and don't tell any non knife person as they will not understand.

Wear a pair of pants with good size hip pockets and put the sheath into the pocket using a regular belt carry. Wear a long outer shirt or coat and you're good to go. I can conceal an Ontario Marine Raider Bowie easily this way and still have one handed access to it. The Wrangler Riggs work pants work very well for this.

I had a friend in High School who cut out his pants pockets too. It wasn't to conceal a knife, I can tell you that.
