Who thinks these things up. That's really cool. Now that's truly bush craft.

I wonder how they would look if he were to spiral them down.

Nice vid, I didn't fast forward. I find this stuff relaxing.

This video popped up a year or so ago at Christmas time, in a very similar thread. For good reason though, its quite impressive :).

I wonder if he had to do anything to the wood to get it to behave like that. I'm not as impressed that it curls like that ( I mean, it is impressive, but thats not what I'm getting at), I'm more impressed that he can "unravel" the curls and they don't fall apart. The ones I make for fires, or when carving can look half decent, but if you try to open them up they just seem to fall apart :/.

Why do you believe it's lame? I watched the vid and it looks pretty tough to craft one of the trees or was it just the process?

From the title I thought I was going to watch some dude with awesome Bushcrafting skill.

Thenstead,

I'm watching some dude put incredible effort into making Christmas trees.

Haha no thanks

Other than lots of skill and prztice, another advantage is the leverage he gets with the chisel. It looks like he uses a couple of different sizes, but compare that to the average knife, which is usually 1" or less from spine to edge.

Point.
Missed.
Entirely.

Hahaha nah!
I get it!
It takes skill for what he did.
What he did was art.
Problem is,
There's no knives involved, and theres no practical need for a featherstick tree. (Those feathers don't work as well for tinder)

I can understand it, but this is bladeforums.

Not artisticholidaycarpenterforum.
So I think the title is misleading and contant hence lame.

YMMV.

Merry Christmas!
