Crazy for the Storm, by Norman Ollestad.

(also posted in community, but i thought you folks here would be interested)

just picked up this book, and will probably start reading it next week. when norman was 11, he was in a plane crash that killed his dad, stepmother, and the pilot, near big bear, ca. he hiked out on his own in the snow.

i caught a portion of a news story about this, and was reading an excerpt from the book in "men's journal", when it finally dawned on me why the name was so familiar.

about 15 years ago we played hockey together! our team won a championship, and he was (is?) a hell of a player! great guy, not a mean bone in his body. i had no idea of his childhood ordeal, not that it was something to bring up in the locker room or on the ice. we played on the same team for about a couple years, iirc. then played against each other after the championship team split up a few times.

im pleased to see he is successful and still surfing and skiing.

Cool story Mori! Let me know how it goes..i need a good book to read during the summer to keep my brain from rotting any more than it already has. And while you mention hockey, i have to mention the city of champions, and where i call home, PITTSBURGH!! But yeah let me know. Sounds like my kind of book
